POSTER CONTEST FOR STUDENTS & PHD STUDENTS
FREE RADICALS IN BIOLOGY, MEDICINE, SPORT AND NUTRITION Conference

RULES
Purpose of the contest:
1.1 To honour the memory of Prof. Jerzy Popinigis, a researcher who made a significant contribution to the field of biochemistry.
1.2 To promote innovation, creativity, and excellence in scientific research.
Participation:
2.1 The contest is exclusively for students and PhD students.
2.2 Participants must officially represent a university or scientific institution.
2.3 Each participant may submit only one work as the first author.
2.4 A group of co-authors of a work may also be a participant.
2.5 Works submitted to the contest should concern original research thematically related to the conference's title.
Submission of works:
3.1 Participants must register their entries for the contest by 31 May 2025.
3.2 The submission includes both an abstract and a poster.
3.3 The abstract should include the work's title, the author's name, scientific affiliation in English only (250 words maximum) detailing the research background, objectives, methodology, and results.
3.4 The poster must adhere to the specified A0 format and include subtitles, background, the research purpose, methodology, results, and conclusions.
3.4 The abstract must be sent to the conference organising committee at the email address bioenergetyka@gumed.edu.pl by the end of May 2025.
3.5 Works must not have been previously accepted by or published in a peer-reviewed journal at the time of abstract submission.
3.7 The organising committee reserves the right to decide which abstracts will be qualified for the poster presentation.
Poster specifications:
4.1 Posters should be prepared in English only and printed in the format of a poster of a predetermined size (A0 size). Both vertical and horizontal orientations are acceptable.
4.2 The poster should contain subtitles, background, the research purpose, methodology, results, and conclusions.
4.3 The participant is responsible for preparing and placing a poster copy in the place designated by the organiser.
4.4 The poster should be placed in the place designed by the organiser on 27.06.2025, no later than 10:00 a.m.
Evaluation:
5.1 The Contest Committee will consist of esteemed international scientists known for their expertise in the fields relevant to the conference.
5.2 The first stage of evaluation will take place during the poster session scheduled for Friday, 27 June 2025, where five finalists will be selected. The presence of the first author at the poster at this stage is not mandatory but could be an additional advantage.
5.3 Immediately following the conclusion of the first stage, the finalists will receive an email with information about advancement to the final stage.
5.4 The final stage of evaluation will occur on Saturday, 28 June 2025, and the finalists' presence at the poster is mandatory.
5.5 Evaluation criteria will consider the poster's originality, scientific value, presentation, and readability.
5.6 The decisions of the Contest Committee will be final and indisputable.
Award:
6.1 The prize in the contest is the Prof. Jerzy Popinigis Award which will be given to the author/authors of the poster that the Committee considers the best.
6.2 The Contest Committee reserves the right to award additional prizes to other finalists based on the merits of their presentations and overall contributions to the conference themes.
6.3 The decision of the contest Committee will be final and indisputable.
6.4 The award will be presented during the closing ceremony of the conference.
Copyright:
7.1 The authors of the works applying for the contest remain the copyright owners of their research and declare that the results have not been previously published in another form. The authors commit not to publish the results elsewhere until the end of the contest.
7.2 The conference organising Committee has the right to use the contest works for promotional and informational purposes related to the conference.
7.3 The authors of the works applying for the contest agree to have their abstracts published in conference materials.
Final provisions:
8.1 All disputes will be resolved by the conference organising Committee.
8.2 Participation in the contest means acceptance of the rules by the participants.
